DEVELOPMENT OF C-BAND TRANSPONDER SET AN/DPN-65 (XE-1)
Abstract
The design and development of the C-band transponder set AN/DPN-65 (XE-1) is reported. The set is a subminiature unit utilizing silicon solid state active elements throughout with the exception of a planar transmitting tube. It is designed for extreme environmental conditions and has a self-contained battery power source. It consists of a three-cavity preselector which contains an integral duplexer and video detector, a broad video amplifier, decoder, modulator, transmitter and power supply. A preselector design procedure and recommendations for further use of the equipment are presented. (Author)
