EVALUATION OF L-23F DE-ICING AND ANTI-ICING SYSTEMS

Abstract

An evaluation of the anti-icing and de-icing systems was conducted on a leased airplane. The anti-icing system was found satisfactory. It was recommended that the L-23F Airplane be retrofitted with a self-contained pressure system and de-icing boots that would equal or surpass the operational suitability of the de-icing system used on the L-23D. The anti-icing systems and the de-icing systems tested were lightweight pneumatic boot de-icing system and an electrothermal anti-icing system for the wings, empennage, propellers, and windshield.
