VALUES OF LARGE GAMES. 6: EVALUATING THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE EXACTLY

Abstract

The electoral college is used as an application for the theory of games and the use of the power index. It is a relatively large game and the exact calculation until recently has not been feasible. The results have some sociological, as well as mathematical, interest; they are given for three different cases. Results demonstrate that there is a bias in favor of the large states as against the small of as much as five per cent on a pure mathematical basis solely.
