THE ANALYTICAL THEORY OF CHARACTERISTICS OF INVISCID GAS DYNAMICS. PART III. TWO-DIMENSIONAL SUPERSONIC FLOW
Abstract
The theory of the structure of the equations governing steady, homentropic, irrotational flow is presented. The nonclassical uniqueness questions arising in the formulation of most physical problems are discussed. The role of wave fronts, branch lines and limit lines as elements of the solutions is covered. From their understanding are developed, on the one hand, the homentropic approximation to the theory of shock formation inA REGION OF WAVE INTERACTION, AND ON THE OTHER HAND, EFFECTIVE ANALYTICAL METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF THE WAVE INTERACTIONS ARISING IN PHYSICAL PROBLEMS. An introduction to entropy convection effects is given. (Author)
