HALL EFFECTS IN A LORENTZ GAS

Abstract

For a Lorentz gas, expressions are derived for the direct and transverse electron electrical conductivities for an arbitrary inverse-power interaction force with the heavy particles. The results are compared to the simple kinetic model for the electron motion. The simplified equation is not general for small magnetic fields but is correct for large magnetic fields. For inverse powers greater than 3, the error is less than 15%. (Author)
