THREE DIMENSIONAL ORBITS WITH FIXED LOW THRUST

Abstract

The orbit of a satellite with an additional fixed low thrust in a fixed direction is extended to 3 dimensions. The orbital eccentricity and inclination oscillate between bounds independent of the low thrust level. Escape does not occur and the major axis remains constant. The applicability of the analysis to the behavior of the orbit of a satellite for solar observation is shown. (Author)
