INVESTIGATION OF DIGITAL DATA COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (PHASE 2 REPORT)

Abstract

Results are presented of investigations on a variety of topics related to the transmission of digital data. Included is an analysis of the degradation of the performance of noncoherent binary FSK and carrier keyed systems due to a frequency offset of the received signal. The optimization of systems operating over dispersive channels in the presence of nonwhite, gaussian noise is treated and the effects of medium phase perturbations on the performance of digital systems are analyzed. Partial orderings of digital channels specified by their transition probabilities are also investigated. (Author)
