SOLID-STATE ARM SAFE DEVICE

Abstract

The accomplishments made during the four-month research and development program on the solid state arm safe device are summarized. The purpose of the program was to design, develop, and fabricate electronic solid state arm safe devices capable of functioning in various warheads forArmy missiles under a wide range of environmental conditions. The output is to have a solid state switching circuit that will provide an electrical pulse after the missile has traveled a preselected distance from the launch site. Technical material is presented chronologically with frank evaluation of each phase and of each model. Statements evaluating the devices as to simplicity, reliability, and safety are common. The details of the design changes required from one model to another are elaborated upon. Improvements of resolutions and accuracy over wide G levels are discussed. (Author)
