INVESTIGATION AND FUNDAMENTAL STUDY OF CRYOSAR OPERATION AND APPLICATION

Abstract

Experimental data on the impact ionization of germanium at liquid helium temperature with various compensations are reported. In particular, curves of the breakdown and sustaining field for various compensations were obtained. The relationship of peak current to both majority impurity concentration and compensation ratio are included. A phenomenological interpretation of the results is given. In the area of application, the cryosar was operated as a memory cell. The mode of operation employed offers several advantages over previous work. The results and extrapolations of this investigation are included. (Author)
