THE DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNIQUES TO DETECT AND DETERMINE THE EFFECTS OF HEAT ON SELECTED PRIMARY EXPLOSIVES
Abstract
I DE TIFIERS: HERO, Electroexplosive devices. The effects of vacuum, pressure and dynamic gas flo at various he ting rates in differential thermal analysis are prese ted in composite thermograms for diazodinitrophenol, dextrinated lead azi e, polyvinylalco ol lead azide, pure lead azide, dextrine and polyvinylalcohol. The work in infrared pectroscopy includes a calibration curve for etermining the weight of diazodinitrophenol s a function of its -N=N- group. T e method involves the use of potassium thiocy nate as an internal standard. A method for determining the nitrogen cont nt of milligram quantities of dextrinated lead azide by gas chromatography is also presented. (Author)
