THE K(+) - PI(+) + E(+) + E(-) DECAY

Abstract

The decay mode of the charged K meson into a charged pion and an electron-positron pair is calculated. It has previously been estimate to occur once in ten million events. An occurrence of one in one hundred thousand events is estimated here. The calculation is only an estimate, for the branching ratio depends upon the (experimentally unknown) pion and kaon form factors, and upon the relative role played by vector and axial-vector weak interaction.
