THE AEROSOL CATCHER, A RAPID SAMPLING DEVICE FOR AEROSOLS

Abstract

This report describes a rapid sampling device for aerosols, the aerosol catcher, and includes its use and some results of its application in field tests. This device catches an aerosol sample by a rapid closing of an open box that moves transversely to the direction of motion of an aerosol cloud. It is generally independent of cloud-flow conditions, and allows extremely short sampling times.
