AN OBJECTIVE PRECIPITATION CLIMATOLOGY OF CANADA

Abstract

The seasonal and regional distribution of precipitation over Canada is presented by means of variance components or harmonics. Precipitation regimes are identified and characterized. Certain significant features of the annual march of precipitation are explained in terms of the atmospheric circulation. Associations between precipitation patterns and natural vegetation and water bodies are investigated. (Author)
