INKS FOR FIELD INK KIT

Abstract

Six series of lithographic inks and modifiers furnished by different manufacturers were examined to determine the feasibility of developing purchase specifications. New ink samples were obtained in an evaluation of potential specifications of ink color, color strength, specific gravity and grind (dispersion). Ink manufacturers indicated that the color specifications were inadequate; nevertheless, the color matches obtained were improved considerably compared to the initial samples. Specifications of ink color and color strength on the basis of bleach formulations and color standards require custom prepared standards, a number of which are currently inaccessible color gamuts.
