THE TECH/OPS SERIES ON PROGRAMMING SYSTEMS CL-II: A SIMULATION OF THE PROTOTYPE CL-II CONTROL

Abstract

The control and simulation routines, data sets, and parameters of a prototype control for the CL-II Programming System are precisely described and instructions for setting up games are given. The description and evaluation of a number of games actually run with varying memory length, number of data channels, scheduling rules, and the like is included. The major conclusions reached are: (1) the feasibility of the CL-II control philosophy has been demonstrated; (2) the simulation provides a reasonable vehicle for testing different hardware configurations, scheduling sch mes, and the like; (3) the direct conversion and expansion of the prototype control to an operational model is not feasible; (4) the task of producing a running prototype model has generated techniques, ideas, and general 'know how' which would not have been obtained had one plunged into he task of producing an operational model at the outset; and (5) the task of implementing an operational control can be accomplished.
