GAMMA DOSE RATES AND ENERGY SPECTRA IN A 3-FOOT SQUARE DUCT

Abstract

Dosimeter measurements and gamma-ray spectra were taken in a 3-foot square concrete duct. The spectra are used to determine the dose rate contributions from the individual scattering areas and to determine the percentage of these dose rate contributions due to multiple scattering in the first leg. Dose rates are compared with calculated values, and it is found that calculated values are always low. This discrepancy is attributed to the effects of multiple scattering. (Author)
