RESEARCH ON STATISTICAL MECHANICS AND THERMO-DYNAMICS OF IRREVERSIBLE PROCESSES

Abstract

The following research was completed: (1) Research on the quantum statistical mechanical basis of non-equilibrium thermodynamics, with the use of the formalism of Wigner-distribution functions; (2) Research on irreversibility, ergodicity and Poincare cycles in harmonic oscillator assemblies; (3) Research on chemical kinetics from the point of view of the Boltzmann kinetic theory of gases; (4) Research on the relations between path integrals and variational principles of Hamilton; and (5) Research on the behaviour of entropy in Gaussian-Markoff processes.
