EQUIVALENCE OF NON-RECIPROCAL ACTIVE AND PASSIVE NETWORKS

Abstract

T HE REQUISITE MATHEMATICAL BACKGROUND OF THE CONGRUENCE TRANSFORMATION AS APPLIED TO THE THEORY OF EQUIVALENT NETWORKS IS EVELOPED. The equivalence conditions previously ders to equivalent transistor amplifiers is outlined, and the extension to more complex networks indicated. The formulation of the theory of equivalent networks is evaluated on the basis of the above results, and an extension of the theory is proposed which seems more veloped for reciprocal networks are extended to the general case of active or passive, reciprocal or nonreciprocal networks. A design procedure, utilizing these concepts, for converting from oneor two-stage vacuum tube amplifiers to equivalent transistor amplifiers is outlined, and the extension to more complex networks indicated. The formulation of the theory of equivalent networks is evaluated on the basis of the above results, and an extension of the theory is proposed which seems more readily applicable to computer study. Further research in this area is outlined. (Author)
