EFFECTS OF EXTERNAL FORCES ON VIBRATING CRYSTAL PLATES

Abstract

Compression stress-frequency curves for BT-cut piezoids so far show less symmetry than expected. Examination of the interquadrantal regions for this cut show no experimental evidence of discontinuities in the deviation function or in its derivatives. Numerous tests of equation (6) against experimental data, mostly AT, using new Bechmann values for the elastic and piezoelectric matrix elements, show a superior fit. Effective widths and cross-section areas of the vibrating region as seen by the force field are calculated. Possible reasons for the smallness of the values obtained are discussed. A more detailed description is given of the apparatus for producing controlled, steady, compressional and flexural stresses. (Author)
