THERMOELECTRIC MATERIALS

Abstract

Preparation of materials: Multiple oxides: Additions of TiO2, ZrO2, CeO2 and SnO2 to YCrO3 were prepared. X-ray diffrac ion data established the synthesis of various niobate materials. Fabrication of shapes: Standard ceramic bodies of the following materials were fabricated: additions of Y2O3, La2O3 and Nb2O5 to CeO2; CdO, Bi2O3, Sb2O5, MoO3 and WO3 to PbNb2O6 or Pb2N6207. Percentage compositions and ceramic properties of the materials are tabulated. Forty-two of the compositions were screened electrically and the following properties tabulated: temperature, Seebeck coefficie t, resis ivity. Four compositions containing additions of 0.5, 1.0, 5.0 and 2.0 mol/% Nb2O5 to CeO2 exhibited low enough resistivity to be graphically represented.
