HIGH TEMPERATURE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF SELECTED GASES

Abstract

Recent literature dealing with the high-temperature thermodynamic properties for air, N2, O2, A, and He, computed theoretically from statistical thermodyamics, is reviewed. The relationships and interrelationships of thermodynamic quantities and partition functions are discussed. After estimating the accuracy possible with the present 'state of the art,' the sources of discrepancy among the various papers are examined and accuracies relative to those possible under the state of the art are discussed. The individual character of each paper is reviewed in a chart containing information as to what data are available in the paper, the computing procedure used, and the expected accuracy. Recommendations r garding w ich tabulations are best or most useful for differing purposes in various temp rature and pressure ranges are summarized in a table. (Author)
