SELECTED REFERENCES IN UTILITY THEORY AND MILITARY ESSENTIALITY
Abstract
This bibliography provides selected background material for the study of military essentiality measures. The first section contains references selected from the academically well-developed area of utility theory. Most of the references include (1) linear expected utility based on assumptions similar to those of von Neumann and Morgenstern, (2) group utilities, (3) experimental work, or (4) survey and interpretation of previous research. The second section contains references in the area of military essentiality. Theoretical and empirical research is included dealing with (1) the derivation of military worth measures, (2) application of the measures in decision problems, or (3) general military decision problems which may profitably use military essentiality measurements.
