THE GEOMETRY EFFECT OF THE SHEAR LIP AND FRACTURE TOUGHNESS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE FOR BIMODAL FRACTURE,

Abstract

A bimodal fracture model described in an earlier paper is shown to lead to temperature transition behavior consistent with observed results. Specifically, the effect of temperature and sheet thickness on fracture toughness is examined quantitatively. Based upon the findings of this study, it appears feasible to correlate the various definitions of transition temperature in current popular use.
