THE PARALLEL PLATE PLASMA PROBLEM,

Abstract

The circuit-like behavior of a plasma situated between plane conducting boundaries is discussed. It is desired to obtain analytical expresions for the complex impedance that the plasma capacitor presents to external measuring devices as a function of frequency. It is shown that the theoretical behavior of the plasma capacitor depends on the physical model of the plasma used, but that there are wide ranges of agreement between the hydrodynamic model and the kinetic equation point of view.
