MATERIALS PROBLEMS OF FLIGHT VEHICLE POWER
Abstract
Major objectives in materials research for energy conversion devices are: reliability, elevation of operating temperatures, weight reduction ofAUXILIARY SPACE POWER UNITS, AND SUITABILITY FOR THE OUTER-SPACE ENVIRONMENT. Materials for flight vehicle power sources are listed. The materials requirement, materials presently being used or proposed, and the limitations or areas of improvement are listed for each source. Radioisotope generator materials are also given. (Author)
