STUDY TO DETERMINE EFFECTS OF FISSION PRODUCT GAMMA RADIATION ON ELECTRONIC PARTS AND EQUIPMENT

Abstract

The present effort is concentrated on the Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS). As a start in evaluating the performance of this system in a fission product radiatio environmen , sixteen circuit cards in the system have been selected which are probably mo t se sitive to such an environment. These cards will be exposed to a controlled gamma radiation and temperature environment, and their performance will be monitored in this environment. The circuits to be ested, the instrumentation to be used, and the gamma sources which will be used to simulate t e fission product transit field are described. (Author)
