GENERALIZED PLANE STRAIN OF A PRESSURIZED SPIRALLOY TUBE

Abstract

The generalized Hooke's law in cylindrical coordinates is simplified for spiralloy, because of its symmetric winding pattern. It is used in the derivation of the generalized plane strain solution to a closed spiralloy tube subjected to internal pressure. Two sets of equations are found; one set is applicable for compressible spiralloy and the other for incompressible spiralloy. The distinction is also described in terms of the moduli of elasticity and Poisson's ratios. (Author)
