ABSORPTION OF AUDIO-FREQUENCY ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES TRAVERSING THE IONOSPHERE IN THE MAGNETOIONIC MODE

Abstract

Typical absorption curves for magneto-ionic mode propagation have been calculated for various geomagnetic latitudes and various values of solar zenith angle. The feasibility of communication with satellites beyond the direct line of sight is evaluated, and the connection with 'whistler' and VLF noise radiations is shown. (Author)
