REVERSIBLE OXYGEN ELECTRODES

Abstract

Conditions under which reversible O electrodes may be set up on Pt have been examined. Exposure to gaseous O seems to be essential for the rapid setting up of the reversible potential in purified solutions. Preliminary investigation of the extent of O adsorption by Pt show that the coverage is approximately 50% at a partial pressure of 1 atmosphere and 15% at 1/5 atmosphere partial pressure. (Author)
