PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE VHF CRYSTAL UNITS CR(XM-36)/U

Abstract

Preliminary crystal units at the extremes of the frequency range, 150 mc and 200 mc, were fabricated using the best current techniques. These units were used to evaluate the performance of two types of internal mounting structures with respect to their resistance and inductance at contract frequencies, and for compliance to specification. The music wire mount is unsatisfactory, the flat spring mount is satisfactory. Many groups were processed at 150 mc, with significant changes in lapping and polishing schedules, in an effort to obtain units with sufficiently low resistance. The final group yielded 20% usable, not sufficient to consider the problem solved, but indicating a reason for optimism that we are on the right track. (Author)
