SECTIONAL FORGINGS OF AIRCRAFT PANELS

Abstract

Id ntifiers: 7 75 Al alloy . To overcome th need for heavy presses with capacities of 30,000 to 70,000 tons for the die forging of panels and to correct elastic deformation of the press ram, table, and die, ich causes di e sional and shape deviations, a forging technology was developed in which the panel is forged in sections. An experimental panel was forged from 7075 aluminum-alloy plate 600 x 510 x 5 Visual d i ion l inspec ion showed that the finished panel had a satisfactory surface quality a d !0.2 to !0.3 mm variations in distances of 190 and 180 mm betwee th transverse ribs and the longitudinal rib , respectively.
