STUDY OF THE USE OF PREIMPREGNATED ROVING WITH NUMERICALLY CONTROLLED WINDING EQUIPMENT

Abstract

Some of the advantage of preimpregnated roving for filament winding over the wet winding system are: more uniform resin content; less affect on laminate resin content by the mandrel diameter; ability to utilize ll resin systems; long shelf life; shorter production time; good storage life and NO SPECIAL PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS; EASY QUALITY CONTROL; ELIMINATION OF IMPREGNATION PROCESS OF THE WET RESIN; ALSO THE WINDING OF UNSTABLE PATTERNS CAN BE MADE WITHOUT SLIPPAGE. The use of numerically controlled winding equipment has a number of advantages over mechanically controlled winding machines such as: versatility, accuracy, speed, quality control, and storage of the winding pattern on punch cards and/or digital tape. Preimpregnated roving with numerically controlled winding equipment. the preimpregnated material affords more uniform resin content, good storage life, shorter production time. Numerically controlled winding machines have a number of advantages over mechanically controlled winding machines and afford shorter production time.
