AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE ELECTROHYDRODYNAMIC WAKE BEHIND A CHARGED OBJECT IN A STREAMING PLASMA

Abstract

The ion density behind a charged object in a streaming mercury plasma has been studied and the results confirm that an electrohydrodynamic wake is established. The ion density distribution in the wake suggests that direct scattering may overwhelm the collective effects discussed in the theory. (Author)
