DEVELOPMENT OF BROAD-BAND ELECTROMAGNETIC ABSORBERS FOR ELECTRO-EXPLOSIVE DEVICES

Abstract

Iden ifiers: Electromagnetic Absorbers, Electro-Explosive Devices. The method of fabricating ferrites by formulation of a bimetal oxalate which is decomposed at moderate temperatures is discussed. Preliminary results of molding these ferrites in a standard doughnut configuration are presented. Six groups of 3 ferrite toroids each were measured for at enuation at frequencies of 200, 300, 400 and 50 mc. These ferrites represent a range of value of initial permeability and volume resistivity which are important in the choice of a ferrite for max attenuation a low frequencies. Data are in tabular form, and ave values of attenuation at 500 mc for each group are plotted agains initial permeability and volume resistivity. Preliminary results indicate that high initial permeability and lowvolume resistivity are favorable. Preliminary work on evaluating carbonyl iron data from the UNIVAC compu er is discussed in an effort to determine the at enuation mechanism in the metal powders. (Author)
