NEW METHODS FOR MEASURING SPURIOUS EMISSIONS

Abstract

The design of all components for the fully instrumented, fixed-probe, multimode measurement equipment was completed. The four-band fixedprobe section was calibrated over the 3 to 10 gc range, and the motor-driven trombone line stretcher and Band I commutator were tested. The H-plane bends in the rombone line stretcher introduce a maxi um dominant-mode reflection loss of only 0.02 db. Because of the measured peakto-peak variation of 1 db in the maximum tr nsmission through each commutator segment, the calcula ed error is 0.01 db for dominant-mode propagation and 0.07 db for multimode propagation. Study also indicated that only slight modifications in the present fixed-probe equipment will be necessary to make spurious-emission power measurement in the presence of a highly mismatched antenna.
