GEODESY FOR THE LAYMAN

Abstract

DESCRIPTORS: *Tendons, *Reflexes, *Accelera tion tolerance, Impact shock, Tests, Deceler ation, Man, Test methods, Stress (Physiology). Identifiers: Hyperreflexia.Alterations of the deep tendon reflexes have been frequently observed in humans after impact. A series of experiments w s conducted to study reflexes in humans undergoing a 15 seat G impact, with a control group undergoing a 5 seat G impact. Using tandard clinical examination and notation techniques, no quantitative differences were noted between the experimental and control groups. In the opinion of the medical examiners, however, a slight increase in 'briskness' was found in the experimental group in contrast with the control group. Development of a reflex sensor suitable for sled testing is necessary for further work in this investigation. (Author)
