STUDY OF ADVANCED SOLID-STATE INFRARED DETECTORS

Abstract

Research concerns advanced methods of infrared detection with bolometers and with optically pumped phosphors. Efforts were concentrated on triglycine sulphate bolometers which exhibit a second-order transition. Work with semiconductor bolometers was devoted to measuring the operating parameters and the performance of single crystal silicon bolometers and to developing a technique for simultaneously depositing, in vacuo, a silicon bolometer element and its electrical leads onto a mica substrate. Experiments on the phosphor IR detector program were devoted to the thermal glow curve analysis and the measurement of IR stimulability of ZnS:Cu,Sc, GaP, and SrS:Eu,Sm phosphors. (Author)
