STUDIES OF CERTAIN BIOLOGICALLY IMPORTANT POLYANION-ORGANIC CATION COMPLEXES AS ENERGY TRANSFER SYSTEMS
Abstract
Two polyanionic materials, keratan sulfate, a glycosaminoglycan from bovin cornea, and sodium polyacrylate, a synthetic polymer, were fractionated by means of ECTEOLA resin chromatography and cetyl pyridinium complex formation, respectively. Both methods showed that these fractions exhibited a linear relationship. Chondroitin sulfate from bovin cornea was also fractionated on an ECTEOLA resin column. (Author)
