THE CAUCHY-SCHWARTZ INEQUALITY FOR AN OPERATOR-VALUED INNER PRODUCT

Abstract

IN MANY BRANCHES OF FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS THERE IS A CRUCIAL SET OF INEQUALITIES WHICH MUST BE ESTABLISHED BEFORE MUCH ELSE IS POSSIBLE. The Cauchy-Schwartz inequality plays such a role in the theory of Hilbert spaces. A far-reaching generalization of this basic inequality is presented. This presentation is the outgrowth of a study of the Fourier expansion theory for almost periodic functions. (Author)
