ENERGY CONVERSION RESEARCH PROGRAM. DIRECT CONVERSION OF CHEMICAL ENERGY TO ELECTRICAL ENERGY

Abstract

Prototype fuel cells were operated employing chlorine as ixidant, phosphorus trichloride as fuel, and methyl thiocyanate as solvent. Studies were made of pyrolytic processes for regeneration of reaction products and means of separating products. Other systems were investigated by chronopotentiometric techniques. Tungsten and antimony chlorides were found to have characteristics of special interest. (Author)
