SOLUTION OF NON-STEADY SOIL MOISTURE TRANSFER
Abstract
A mathematical model of soil moisture transfer, including assumptions and limitations, is described. The model is a second order, nonlinear partial differential equation whose solution represents non-steady, one-dimensional soil moisture transfer. A number of solutions, for various boundary and initial condition, obtained by numerical integration on a digital computer are described. These solutions, in conjunction with laboratory experiments with soil moisture extractors can be used to deter ine the water transmission characteristics of soil. (Author)
