EFFECTS OF AIR TURBULENCE UPON PROPAGATION OF LIGHT

Abstract

Shadow patterns of turbulent air layers 1.0 and 2.2 miles thick were photographed at near-ground level. They indicate a dynamic range of 1000 to 1 of the flux density in adjacent areas of about 1 to 4 inches across. A moving picture demonstrating the phenomenon was shown. The bendingbeam phenomenon is described. (Author)
