APPLIED RESEARCH ON TECHNIQUES FOR LIGHT MODULATION DETECTION

Abstract

Research was conducted on the development of a high-sensitivity microwave phototube. Fabrication of efficient photocathodes and the development of a convergent electron gun was emphasized. Efforts were devoted to preliminary design and preparation. Items designed were deposition tubes for forming photocathodes, a convergent gun beam tester, a complete microwave phototube, and a modulated-light test bench. Apparatus constructed includes light transmission measurement apparatus for monitoring cathode film thicknesses, and vacuum station apparatus for cathode fabrication. (Author)
