RESEARCH IN TRACE ANALYSIS OF ULTRA-PURE EXPLOSIVES. PART I - LITERATURE SURVEY

Abstract

The results of an extensive literature search for instrumental techniques having sensitivities of less than 1 ppm applicable to explosives research are presented. Information was also gathered by personal contact with investigators in the field of trace analysis. The techniques discussed are atomic absorption, light absorption, activation anal sis, electron paramagnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, optical emission and flame photometry. Tables of sensitivities are included for each technique as well as comparisons of the techniques discussed to permit the reader to appreciate the sensitivity relationships. Parameters affecting the detection of cations and some anions are include . (Author)
