Stress Propagation in Non-Linear Viscoelastic Materials: Unloading Cycle

Abstract

Stress propagation in a nonlinear viscoelastic material is analyzed for the unloading portion of a complete stress-strain cycle. The loading process is the subject of a previous report. The elastic unloading theory developed by Malvern is reviewed and extended to include stress-strain laws with nonlinear unloading. Numerical techniques for solution are outlined or both infinitesimal and finite strain theories.
