TEST AND EVALUATION OF REMINGTON RAND UNIVAC HIGH-SPEED PRINTER

Abstract

The results are presented of technical and operational tests of high-speed printer designed to print flight progress strips in two colors and two print sizes. Technical difficulties encountered are detailed and suggestions for modifications to improve certain technical features are advanced. Also, recommendations are made for improvement of some operational features of this printer. Capacity tests were conducted comparing the flight progress printing rate for this printer with that of six inquiry typewriters. The high-speed printer can print flight progress strips significantly faster than the UNIVAC Model I File Computer can process the flight progress strip information and more rapidly than six inquiry typewriters. This printer is recommended as a replacement for the inquiry typewriters after improvements to r ove the technical and operational limitations detailed in the final report. (Author)
