BUSINESSMEN FROM SCIENCE AND THEIR PATRONS

Abstract

A system of determining the qualifications of scientific workers by means of awarding them scientific degrees and titles fro scientific councils of institutes with subsequent approval of the Higher Certification Commission (VAK) exists which conveniently permits the organization of training and conducts the registration of scientific guidance cadres. This system provides an entrance into science for everyone possessing the ability, and objectively permits an evaluation of the qualifications of the candi ates for the corre ponding title and degree. Manuscripts of books particularly textbooks, lso go through repeated reviewing, and are discussed by the scientific councils of those institutions from the name of which they are published, by expert commissions, etc. Strange facts are often encountered in these books. They indicate that al scientists do not always render an account concerning the consequences to which indulgence and unrestraint can be applied in the evaluation of book , dissertatio s nd other works. Several examples from the field of hy rodynamics are cited. (Author)
