TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE INFLUENCE OF THE COHERENTLY REFLECTED PORTION OF A SIGNAL UPON ITS CORRELATION CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract

A correlation function is obtained for the squared envelope of a signal reflected from the ionosphere, which takes into account the coherently reflected and the scattered signal simultaneously. The relation of the correlation functions to the input and output of a receiver of signals reflected from the atmosphere with di ferent values of the turbidity function is analyzed. It is shown that the value of the negative oscillations of the correlation function of the squared envelope for a rough screen with drift depends upon the value of the turbidity unction. The results obtained throw light upon previous papers and can be of se in an analysis of the relationship between the experimentally obtained correlation functions and the structure of the reflecting region of the ionosphe e.
