A MEDIUM WITH A NEGATIVE ABSORPTION FACTOR

Abstract

Russian work on negative absorption (induced emission) is presented. Experimental difficulties in determining negative absorption, mathematical analysis of t e concepts involved, creation of a molecular generator of microwave radiation, and implications for construction of ''ma ers'' are discussed. Experimental data for emission spectra of cesium and mercury in an atmosphere of helium or hydrogen are given.
