PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING POLYMERS. III. APPLICATION OF THE ARBUZOV REACTION FOR POLYMERIZATION OF ETHYLENE ALKYL PHOSPHITES

Abstract

Polyphosphonates were synthesized from e hylene alkyl phosphites in the presence of catalytic amounts of methyl iodide. The polyphosphonate structure was demonstrated by cleaving the reaction product of ethylene heptyl phosphite with phosphorus pentachloride. The polymers may possibly be used as plasticizers or lubricant additives. (Author)
